Ben Stokes replaces Jason Holder atop Test all-rounder rankings

Sourced from News24 Ben Stokes' man-of-the-match performance against the West Indies has catapulted him to the top of the International Cricket Council's (ICC) Test all-rounder rankings as well as a career-best third in the batting standings. ICC Test all-rounder rankings Stokes was at the heart of England's series-levelling win against the West Indies at Old Trafford that ended on Monday, scoring 176 and 78 not out as well as taking three wickets. Those performances were enough to see him leapfrog West Indies captain Jason Holder, who had been at No 1 for 18 months. Stokes is the first England cricketer to top the all-rounder charts since Andrew Flintoff in May 2006. The rankings, unlike traditional averages, also take the quality of opposition into account and Stokes' tally of 497 ratings points is the highest for any all-rounder since South Africa's Jacques Kallis was on 517 in April 2008. AB de Villiers and Aiden Markram star in new three-team format in South Africa

News article Sourced from Sky Sports.

Aiden Markram and AB de Villiers bludgeoned lightning half-centuries to lead their Eagles side to victory in the inaugural, experimental three-team Solidarity Cup fixture at Centurion Park on Saturday.

Cricket South Africa is hopeful the unique format may catch on, though for many the jury will be out as the slog-a-thon produced entertainment off the bat but little else for the purists to enthuse over in a display of power hitting.

Markram (70 from 33 balls) and De Villiers (61 from 24) helped the Eagles to 160-4 in their 12 overs, convincingly beating the Kites (138-3) and Kingfishers (113-5).

Played with the twin aims of raising money for charity and providing the countrys leading players with some cricket under COVID-19 lockdown, there were no fans in the stadium and all fielders were posted to the boundary in order

De Kock named South African cricketer of the year

Sourced from ENCA JOHANNESBURG - Limited-overs captain Quinton de Kock was named South Africa's men's cricketer of the year for the second time. The left-handed De Kock (27) was comfortably South Africa's best batsman in a year in which the national team won only one out of seven series across all formats. Wicketkeeper-batsman De Kock was South Africa's leading run-scorer in five out of seven series and was the team's top scorer in nine out of 27 innings. But he said his highlight of the year was leading the one-day team to a 3-0 series win against Australia, the only series in which he did not play a prominent individual role. De Kock was also named his country's Test cricketer of the year and the players' player of the year. Fast bowler Lungi Ngidi was the one-day international and Twenty20 international player of the year. De Kock was previously South Africa's cricketer of the year in 2017.
