DRIVERS #1 AT WGC PING was the most-played brand of driver at the WGCFedEx St. Jude Invitational, the first time the company has won the count at a prestigious WGC event. There were 21 drivers in bags, three more than the next brand — 15 from the G410 family, 6 from G400. Combined with the 31 PING drivers in play at the Barracuda Championship on the PGA Tour, PING had the highest driver total of any brand between the two tournaments. Of the 52 PING drivers at the events, the G410 family accounted for 38, the G400 had 14. MOTIVATED FOR A MAJOR Viktor Hovland, Tony Finau, Bubba Watson, Tyrrell Hatton and more will be part of a 19-player PING contingent vying for the Wanamaker Trophy when the PGA Championship begins Thursday at TPC Harding Park in San Francisco. Louis Oosthuizen and Matthias Schwab are both in the field and coming off high finishes. Oosthuizen was T6 at the WGCFedEx St. Jude Invitational, while Schwab earned a T3 at the Barracuda Championship on the PGA Tour. Schwab, who plays the European Tour, has two top-4’s in only six events on the PGA Tour; he played the Barracuda on a sponsors invite. Finau has five top 10’s this season, including two in his past three events. He has performed well at majors in recent years, posting a T5 and a 3rd at the Masters and The Open Championship last year. Watson has played in the most majors of the group, 48, with two wins at The Masters and five top 5’s overall.
